Associate Degree Program

Physical Therapist Assisting

The Associate of Science in Physical Therapist Assisting degree program prepares physical therapist assistants to reflect a high standard of professional practice and conduct. The professional preparation phase of the Physical Therapist Assisting program consists of four academic quarters of lecture and laboratory courses. An additional two quarters are spent in full-time clinical experiences. The academic program is taught during the day at the Tampa campus.

Accreditation and Licensure
The Physical Therapist Assisting program is an expansion program approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education of the America Physical Therapy Association. 1111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandra, VA 22314; 1-703-684-2782. State licensure is a requirement for professional practice in each state in which South University offers the Physical Therapist Assisting program.  Specific information regarding application for licensure will be available to the student during the last term of study. South University does not guarantee third-party licensure.  Outside agencies control the requirements for taking and passing licensing exams and are subject to change without notice to South University.
